Bryson Lang – Lead/Rhythm guitar, Lead vocals
Bryson Lang’s musical journey started early with the Beatles and Beach Boys and his passion for the guitar began when he saw the cover of the Kiss record, Destroyer, at age 7. After wearing out the vinyl on every Kiss record, Bryson soon discovered Van Halen and Randy Rhoads which led to a quest for technical, instrumental and neoclassical guitarists during the 80’s and 90’s.
A summer session at the Berklee College of Music and a year as a music major at Ithaca College provided further music education. Inspired by very specific hard rock music of that era Bryson played in a few bands during high school and college but really began playing out after a move to Los Angeles.
As the guitarist for the band Stereo Blue, he got the opportunity to play some of the legendary LA clubs like the Whiskey. Back on the east coast almost two decades later Bryson connected with the progressive hard rock band, Versa Mynor, who played regularly at the Hard Rock Café in Boston. Bryson is enjoying the opportunity in Livin The Dream to branch out and play everything from Modern Country to Classic Rock.
Shawn Norton – Drums/Backup Vocals
Shawn has been playing drums with local Boston bands for over 25 years. He got hooked on the drums at a young age while growing up watching his father play them in rock and country bands. As a kid he started out by practicing on a drum pad with headphones on, constantly playing along to KISS, The Stones, Skynyrd, The Cars and Boston albums. By age 15 he got his first drum set and never looked back. In 1990 at age 18 he joined his first band “Reckless”, playing covers and some originals at clubs in the Greater Boston area for two years while honing his drumming skills and style.
In 1992 Shawn helped form Boston based rock band “The Wait”, who played their original songs for over two decades, recording and headlining clubs from Boston to Maine, and traveled as far as Tennessee to play shows. In 2007 Shawn helped form local cover band “Totally Inappropriate”, doing multiple shows a year at venues in and around the Boston area for over 10 years. Shawn’s biggest drumming influences are Rush, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Triumph, Aerosmith, and U2.
Billy Mitchell – Lead Vocals/Percussion/Keyboards
Billy has enjoyed music starting with the love for drums ever since he can remember. Playing in his first cover band while in the military really fueled his passion for performing. When karaoke came on the scene Billy started getting more and more comfortable with his vocals and although very shy and nervous initially, he began seeking out karaoke bars to perform as much as possible. Eventually he started to audition for lead vocal roles and hooked up with some incredibly talented local musicians. Fronting numerous cover bands over the years (Tripwire,Change,The Nerve, Acoustic Cocktail, Alter Ego ect..) has continued to allow Billy to grow and perfect his vocal chops.
He is the consummate FRONT-MAN with boundless energy and with his wireless microphone, the unique ability to get any audience involved and engaged. He knows that a wide variety of music is the recipe for success.
LIVIN THE DREAM was made for Billy’s talents and this band promises to deliver a professional, high quality performance with the emphasis on FUN, UPBEAT, DANCE music.
